Young lioness confidentaly walks through water

Water is just a part of daily life for all the predators in the Okavango. The low laying floodplains are inundated annually with rainwater that had fallen months ago in another country and has taken a meandering journey over a couple of months to reach the Okavango. Then, as in this image, when the cycles change and the rains are abundant the shallow pans are filled with the self same rain water except falling from above and the results are immediate. There is no need to wait for the water to reach the parched Kalahari sands to turn an image of an ambling lion into something a little more unusual.
