African Wild dogs catching an Impala
It took 5 years of following wild dogs hunting every day to capture this image. High speed chases at dawn or dusk were daily activities and although we were there almost every time, by the time we had stopped and picked up cameras all we could see was tails and dust. On this particular day I had camera issues and sitting in camp an impala leapt over the table- only one thing makes impala flee like that and I grabbed the closest camera which had a wide angle lens on and only 4 frames left on the roll (Yes, film body). The dogs chased. the impala into the channel, took a brief second to check for crocs, something I admit not doing, but it did get me there at the same time as the dogs grabbed the impala- 4 frames later and this is one of them.
