Wildlife photography is all about timing- right place and right time etc, but a little luck is also useful. These elephants kicked up just enough dust to make the image interesting but not enough to overwhelm the scene. The thorny ground cover they are feeding on is only green for a very short while and if any rain had fallen this image wouldn’t have materialized. To keep my shadows black I metered off the sky and let the camera rip
