Although lions do have a wide variety to their diet, they are specialized hunters- preferring certain prey species above others. This pride of adult females and their cubs has a definite preference for giraffe. It could be the fact that there is a high density of giraffe in the area or that they have developed a successful strategy for killing giraffe, or a bit of both.
