Terrified lion cub seeks refuge in water
Every wildlife photographer who comes to the Okavango delta has an image of predators in water on their wants list. Usually it’s lions, leopards or wild dogs moving through the shallow floodplains. This unfortunate young cub was wandering around looking for her pride when she stumbled onto a few lions from a neighboring pride. At the time this image was made there was no flood but plenty of rain. In her fleeing from the adult lions through long grass she didn’t see this pan filled with water and barreled in with a large male on her tail. He hit the water with a huge splash but bounced right out sparing the young lion who swam to the far side and fled.
