Lion pride killing a giraffe at sunrise
useradmin_davephotos2026-04-09T12:29:33+02:00A soft tawny blur was all that alerted us to the fact that there were lions around. In the predawn light the hint of movement more than actually noticing the lion led me to suddenly turn off-road in pursuit. What I didn’t realize at that moment was that my blur was actually the last member of the pride trying to reach the take down of an adult giraffe. By the time I could position my vehicle, swing my camera up onto a mount the giraffe was down and covered by the pride, each trying to get what hold they could on the flailing giraffe. 15 seconds earlier and it could have been a completely different scenario.
