This small pack of dogs finds it somewhat difficult to compete with and protect their kills from hyenas. At this point of the hunt they are tolerating the presence of the hyena and use him to anchor one end of the carcass. A split second later the dogs turned on the hyena and bit his rear end trying to protect what was left of the kill. The hyena returned, stole a section of bone and skin and was left unmolested as its was parts of the impala that dogs don’t eat.
