Cheetah cubs learning the art of the kill
We have been privileged to be able to spend many pleasant hours watching this cheetah family. Obviously, when the cubs were really small they were left behind, slowly as they grew older they followed mom more and more. At this stage they are right with her until the hunt/chase starts and usually it is no more than a 100m from them. She subdues the impala and as the cubs come rushing in she leaves her hold on it and the cubs are supposed to take over- we have seen one or two impala get away but the female is always close at hand. It is not a quick and pleasant death for the impala but hopefully a life giving lesson for the cubs
