Lion cubs playing before dawn

Lion cubs playing before first light with every move kicking up the fine Kalahari dust. The backlit dust adds a  completely different dimension to the image. The dry Kalahari dust gets inundated with crystal clear waters that arrive during the dry season which converts the dusty plains into shallow waterways and thus the amazing spectacle which is the Okavango delta is formed. Most of Botswana is semi-arid Kalahari sand but each year the floodwaters arrive and transform about 6000 square kilometers into a tapestry of floodplains and islands providing ideal conditions for predators and prey alike. Nowhere else does one have the opportunities  to photograph these self same predators and prey interacting in and around the waters of the Okavango.
